Sooo after getting my front end sorted, I really want to up the front brakes!
Im going for Sp1 calipers and M/C, braided lines and HH pads, all good, but I was wondering if there is anyway of fitting bigger discs, 320/330mm for example?
I obviously know a caliper bracket will have to be fabbed up, this aint a problem, its getting hold of discs which is!
So I ask, is there a kit? Do any other wheel fit that have big discs as std?
Now I know alot of people are gonna say its not worth the bother, doing the SP1 swap is more than enough, but its good to be different, and obviously the most important factor, it looks good and tarty! lol
Ohhh, and while Im at it, front fork braces, worth it?
Cheers!
Big brakes?
Re: Big brakes?
First step done, mint set of SP1 calipers bought! M/C next!
Re: Big brakes?
I am running 320mm EBC (race) rotors on mine (with a 96 CBR900RR fork). The rotors have the same bolt pattern and offset as the stock rotors and were originally offered as an upgrade for 96-97 Fireblades. Good luck in finding some, however. I bought some caliper relocation brackets from BrakeTech. THis set-up works extremely well. However, prior to this I ran the following set-up and it worked flawlessly:
- 98 CBR900RR calipers (same as 929, SP-1 and F4i)
- Nissin radial MC from a 2006 ZX-6R (beleive it's the same as that used on most GSX-Rs, ZXs and CBRs)
- steel lines
- HRC hard bite pads (these have since been discontinued, a very suitable replacement are Vesrah RJLs or SRJLs)
Moral of the story, larger are rotors are nice if you can get all the necessary hardware but the stock rotors can be mated to other parts to produce a great (responsive and powerful) set-up.
Fork brace is a very good investment (had one before going to the Blade front end)....
