Well, had a day off yesterday. I'd called in my local Triumph dealer Saturday for a neb. After a quick phone call Saturday avo I managed to get 2 demo rides in yesterday on these
Despite the crud weather (got up on the tops-Sheffield/Derbyshire and I could'nt see a thing for fog and drizzle

) I was very, very impressed with both bikes. Had about 2 hours or so on each.
Both bikes run a triple cylinder layout as I'm sure your aware. I was very impressed (had a go on the old triple years and years ago) I found the 1050 a different animal all round. Torque all over the place-very usable too even in the very wet and slippy conditions. Riding position was ace and the bike felt really well put together. I enjoyed it more than the KTM I borrowed the other month and the BMW GS (boring in this company) felt compact but planted and the exhaust note on the standard cans was nice

lovely burble on the overun. Would be even better with a pair or single race can

Locked it up on down shifts and lit the back wheel up on a dual caridgeway a couple of times-it was very wet though and the tyres-Metzlers I think-werent up to much. The front went loose easily more than once

Overall I loved it-reminded me of my Buell handling wise but had the stomp of the SP with smoother power delivery on a steady throttle

Anything over 100 and your neck felt like it would detach which is a bad or good thing depending on where you look at things from

Accelerated upto that like a wrecking ball
I then jumped on the Street Triple straight after. I expected great handling, cheaper feel and less satisfying power delivery. The bike looks less appealing imo than the Speed-cheaper forks, non adjustable bits, standard swing arm, "dinkier" looks wise. However I was intrigued to see how it rode after all the hype I've heard from owners, in mags, on the net etc.
It was superb

I was gob struck

The engine is mental considering it's giving away 300cc to the Speed. You would'nt believe it unless you'd ridden one

It pulled really well too.
It was crackers-I had all on to stop the rear wheel spining everywhere, 3rd,4th and 5th on fast A roads

I was a little giddy though

It felt to have most of the low down grunt of the 1050 but revved hard, fast and mad (14000-16000) also had a mental exhaust note. Seemed really quick too-that could be the engine though and nil wind protection. Felt really light handling wise and gave good feedback in the wet. I thought the gearbox on the 1050 felt better though and the Speed felt more planted (probably the extra weight)
I'll be going back at some point to take both out in the dry and can't wait
675 or 1050? Not sure tbh. I'd be tempted to sway towards the big motor but after riding the small one I'm completley confused

It was astonishing

I've always thought I'd struggle to have a sub litre bike after a string of big twins but after riding this that theory can go to pot

Mental, fun bike with a very usuable side. I think they key here is the 3 cylinder-I'm 100% a 600 IL4 would bore me to tears. Then again I find that with bigger IL4's-feel like a car engine
Felt very at home on the Speed though

Nice bike
Would I have one-yes

Will I have one yet-no

Need to save more pennies + I'm loving the SP 110% still

it's still a superb bike. Completley different in comparison to these though. It's testiment to how good it is when it feels so fresh compared to brand new bikes

well done Mr Honda
