I'd like to replace all my disk bolts as per the manual.
My question is do you guys bother or use the same ones with new locktite applied?
Or can you use any other bolts. HT one of course.
Cheers

I used old ones with new loctite, but you could fit any high tensile bolts if you wanted [with loctite].
Companies like pro-bolt do kits, but are expensive.
If you want to go mad you could fit titanium bolts and justify them bas the have better corrosion resistance so will look good for much longer.
I found a mountain bike supplier Tibolts.co.uk who does them cheaper than pro-bolt, as I need to replace the corroded bolts that hold the Calipers together, but I haven't opened my wallet yet.

Yep, it's all about the thread lock; as long as you wire brush the dried thread lock off for a nice clean thread then apply a fresh bead to each before refitting, job done.Styler4077 wrote:do you guys bother or use the same ones with new locktite applied?

Anyone found a supplier of Titanium or Stainless Steel bolts at a reasonable cost?
Checked with Honda they want £2.88 each £35 a set......
standard rusty parts not SS
Dave Silver £1.40 ish each.
Cheers

Re-use as others have said, just make suer you use the blue loctite, not red - just in case you ever want to take them off again.
I buffed mine up on a polishing machine, been fine since, no problem.

Pro-bolt want £87 for a set of Ti bolts , or £52 for SS
TiBolts.co.uk want £47 for Ti, but they are 20mm long so have to work out if you need to cut, or if there is enough depth in the thread.
so the David Silver price looks prety good, but as VTRbarmy suggested, for that money I would have a go at polishing the ones you have

OK I'll look for "Blue" loctite and polish my bolts on a buffing machine easier than my nuts (so I've been told
)
Need to find at least 4 replacement bolts as previous owner has knackered them.
I have a 20mm long bolt and it fits OK thread depth looks to be over 25mm on my bike
Cheers
