What is the spiritual successor for the Firestorm?

Post by AMCQ46 »

So, Honda stopped making our Firestorm years ago, and there looks to be no plan for a replacement new model, so what do you see as the spiritual successor?

I have been looking at these because it has everything I like about the Storm, but updated in style and technology.

oh and it looks good in YELLOW

Still not sure if I will trade, but it has started me thinking...........there was an option with Ohlins back and front and a Akra pipe.............mmmmm decisions, toys

I'm awkward and will go backwards in time

whatever the beemer costs compared to the VF1000R - I'd spend the difference getting the VF back to as good as new

mmmmmm - at £9k or so they're pretty good value and come with a decent reputation as far as I know.

Would personally go the recon/refurb route though.

I do like those alot Al, they look great too although that isnt why I like it, that would be very shallow of me, I had a look about and this 5k miler is going for £5700, looks cheap to me if you compare it to what you can get new for that money......

I like these as well.
Mate has a Boxer Cup R1100 and the sound from the akra;s is amazing.....
Rode it for a while and it would take some getting used too. The rock from side to side at tickover :D or
His had about 100BHP I think and the R1200 S is 120ish.
I have a K1200LT as well as the Honda (and some others) so I was used to the lack of front end information,
however in the end you do get used to that and trust that it sure footed.
I have been amazed how the K1200LT handles and the progress I can make in mixed company and I had the same feeling with the Boxer.
Hard luggage was well fitting but expensive and the mounting points are built in.

Thing is, Kevin can peddle the bike faster that three guys on blade's in our club (early model versions) and say's he enjoy's this more than his old ZX10.

Besides all that it different....

Wicky,
I like the VFR in the 2nd picture, I can see your plan is good............now what is stopping you :D

If I was going back, my money would go on a Suzuki Katana 1000 [1100 at a push] with USD front end, huuuugeee braced swing arm and Ohlins twinshocks

The BMW should be good for easy access when doing the valve clearances and changing the spark plugs

Having not ridden a R1200S yet I can't really give a fair comment on it, but for me (only my personal opinion) one of the main things would be how I got on with the shaft drive.
