To avoid paranoia also fit a voltage display on the dash.
I fitted a combined volts/gear indicator from acumen- the method and wiring instructions are in the Knowledgebase.

That way at least you know if there's a problem, and you can catch it before it takes the battery out.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

You dont need to just ease out the connectors and push them into the old loom.
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.

as Storminateacup said, you can fit the R1/R6 reg without cutting stripping & soldering.

All you need to do is :
1) disconnect battery so the wires you are working with wont touch the frame and short out.
2) unplug Honda R/R and throw in bin
3) with small watchmaker screwdriver ease the connecter out of the plastic housing. there is a small barb on the back of the connector, and you push that down from the front [the face that plugs into the reg] with the small screwdriver and gently pull the connector out with pliers on the wire.
4) When you have them all removed, get some heatshrink sleeve and cover the exposed connectors.
5) work out wiring convention of new R/R from the link in workshop section
6) plug in the connectors
7) mount new R/R using 1 of the old bolt holes
8) use cable ties to bind the harness together and ensure that individual wires wont work loose.

But if you are very, very, very,very, very, very [get the message?], very, very frightened of electrical things, I did post a list of other Honda models which used the newer finned version of the R/R and these will plug and bolt straight in. You should find that on one of the last post in the regulator thread in workshop knowledgebase.

i got one off a blackbird.
no not beyonce you tit, a cb1100.
fitted straight on, no fkin about with wires, no more problems.
in fact i didnt have any problems with it anyway, i just changed it as a precaution.

there's loads on ebay that will fit.
just look for same plug connection and bigger / finned.
the ones off cb125 / cm200 / some cbr400 will fit.

if you keep blowing them you need to check out the rest of the wiring, particularly the stator wiring, starter lead, starter solenoid, neutral / earth to frame lead

yamaha r/r aren't bulletproof - on a mate's virago a while ago, the r/r packed up and was stuffing 19v+ into his battery.
or should say batteries cos he went through a few before realising it was the rr lol.
better off with the proper honda one off a later bike imo.
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

I have had a go at "easing" the pins out, but they are as stubborn as twenty wives.......I have put a teeny driver in to "ease" them out but cant shift em, would sawing them out be ok, ie with a dremmel type thing.
As I remenber there was a locating pip on the connectors that you you need to locate and depress. But careful cutting should do it.

When I fitted a replacement rectifier I got all mine out except one, the last one believe it or not. So that was exactly what I did, I cut the white plastic block terminal with a Stanley knife, just don't slip and cut your finger.

A cable tie would have done temporarily.......
The bolt holes don't both line up anyway, and so at least one is a cable tie, form my experience.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
