Does any1 have a rough idea how much it is to get the storm dyno'd to the cans cause its backfiring like a gooden although it does sound good it does get a bit annoying after a year ive neva had to dyno a bike to the cans before and the storm has a stage 1 dyno kit on it and would a K&N filter help
A single dyno run is about twenty quid, but you'll need several to get a good reading.
A good operator will take an initial reading, suggest changes and carry them out, usually jetting, then do a follow-up run to make sure that the readings are now correct. If they're not perfect he may suggest another tweak, and another run.
You need to contact a couple of local dyno operators and ask them. They probably won't commit to a fixed price, because it depends on what parts are needed and how much time they spend, but you'll certainly get a better-running bike as a result. And they'll give you a ballpark figure based on their experience of doing these bikes in the past. Ask if they have set up Firestorms before, if they haven't you might want to try someone else.
Re air filter; think of your engine as an air pump.
The work it does is made easier by allowing air in and out more efficiently.
So a race pipe set-up with cans is best, but it's the cans that are the most restrictive part, and you have those fixed already.
On the inlet side, the air filter is the part which restricts flow, so fitting a freer-flowing one will help, and also match the freer-flowing cans.
By removing the restrictions that sap power. you'll end up with more at the back wheel.
Various people swear by different filters, I use a K+N but others recommend B+C- see what your dyno operator says, they'll make a bit selling you the filter so will possibly do a better deal.
But as regards backfires in the exhausts, that's probably because air is being allowed into the exhaust somewhere, allowing hot gases with some still unburnt fuel to re-ignite.
Find and fix the air leaks and it will solve your problem.
If there's no air leaks then you have horrible fuelling, and yes, get it on the dyno.
And balance the carbs while you're there.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
