Got me a winter hack

Post by rob's red storm »

....that will hopefully get finished before the snow returns!

Mentioned to my boss the other week that I wish I had the dollar for a winter hack....save decking it on the storm!
He came back to me with the offer of a VT500 for nowt as long as I get it running nicely and dont make too much dough on it if I sell it! Well I decided to take it on, it needs couple of bearings, battery and pads...and the swingarm welding. Its going to my brother next spring once he's past his big bike test, and doesnt need to be pretty (good job really) :D

Another V-Twin!!

I'm a sucker for free stuff...thought it was the shadow derivative but turned out to be this one! :wtf:

Yeah the camera does flatter it, the paintwork on the plastics is pretty faded! However I was pretty surprised of the condition of it after a good wash! Who knows how many years of crud it was covered in!

That's the pic you want to use on E-Bay when you sell it!

Isn't that the one with the enclosed front disc brake?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Oh god the memories...3 years despatching in London on a very badly maintained VT500 Ascot. It was a US import without the enclosed front disc and a different exhaust system to the UK model. Mine had a big hole in the collector box, very noisy, until some friends went to the US and brought a new one home in their luggage! I ended up giving it away to another courier when the head gasket went.

yeh was a very nippy bike even tho it only had like 35horse.
dead comfy as well.
just not very quick on top - great for the country lanes tho & did 70 to the gallon
i bought it cos i had 3 cb250rs which was basically the roadgoing xl250 with a bit more poke - they are brilliant little bikes, superb handling - id have another if i found a good one
