r/r query

Post by uptonpark64 »

after reading some of the letters posted, i bought a r1 r/r of ebay and today decided to change it, but after taking the fairing off i found a finned r/r already on, is this the normal r/r or did the previous owner change it already? its got no serial number just "tour max- high performance equipment" on it, also, is there anyway of knowing if they changed the cct on it for a manual one?

Re. R/R On the back or bottom should be a serial no beginning in SH (shindengen) - I believe that is OEM - IS your storm pre2000 or a later model? The main thing is that it isn't an unfinned fryable one.

Search and ye shall find: CCT ID > http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18479

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

new Storms had a finned part which is much better than the old version [but should be a Honda part no], or previous owner added an aftermarket part which fits the honda connector. you should be OK without changing it

mine was working fine but i changed it anyway before it failed on me & cooked my battery in the middle of nowhere.
& you cant say that about the tensioners... you dont want to wait til they break!

if its a known fault and yours hasnt been done, get it sorted.
keep the old one as spare... you might be able to pull someone out the sh1t with it if theirs goes.
or you could just say i told you so :p
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
