I used to be forever getting nails/screws in my tyres - then I realised that I was doing a lot of traffic filtering on the mucky bit of the road, you know the bits leading up to bollards etc?
I never go on them bits now and (touch wood) I haven't picked up a nail since...
GOD, am I gonna regret saying that!!!!!

Nothing wrong with a bit of Heath Robinson http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W._Heath_Robinson.

I thought I was the only one to suffer those sort of weird accidents. Glad you were able to sort it OK though.

It's the wind what puts the nails in tyres. How so? Well business/builders vans drop them and screws etc on the road. In calm weather they end up in the gutter almost immediately. In windy weather the swirling wind hooks-up the debris, leaves etc & move these nails and screws around in the middle of the road and "Bingo"; instant flat tyre .............. normally.
