you will need to get the seat off.
it can be tricky lol - theres a few threads here on seat problems.
usually (imo) its because the retaining hooks are misaligned.
sometimes its the catch that the key operates that sticks a bit....
youll just have to keep going at it sorry...
have a search and see how others have got theirs off... usually a turn of the key & a good thump in the middle of the seat will do the trick.
then when it's off, make sure the latch is well lubed and bend the hoops on the subframe back a few mm
i added an external charge point on mine - so i can charge it without having to remove the seat... also handy in case i ever need a jump start, or to power accessories.
worth considering.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Hi Benny,
Thanks for that, I will deffinately be adding a charging point as soon as I can get the seat off as I dont think the battery is any good anyways. I have tried hitting the middle of the seat already with the key turned to no avail. I just dont want to damage any of the plastics on the bike trying to do this job...

If you have a seat cowl on it takes a bit of extra effort to get the seat off but heres what worked for me after the aforementioned thump failed.
Unlock the seat and lift the back up to start it off and then:
Grip the seat by the saddle near the tank at the side and a sharp pull towards the rear of the bike without lifting it gets the bugger off. Also can take chunks out of your fingers too so be careful.
If you have no seat cowl then use the same backwards tug on the pillion strap. Doesnt take chunks out of your fingers that way.
Getting the seat off is one of the biggest pains in the arses on that bike I have noticed.

And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

I thought that's how you were supposed to take the seat off anyway? No other method has ever worked for me. I thought it was a design flaw, now I'm thinking maybe my seat is shagged?
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience!

Hi again.
OK I finally got the seat off by removing the rear fairing and bending the 2 silver hoops just a couple of mils further forward. Now it goes on and off great :-)

Good, well done.
Now buy and wire in a 12v marine quality cig lighter socket and adapt the end of the bat charger leads to take a lighter plug.
Don't forget to fuse it.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
