CCT Cam chain

hi all just got my new ccts today
one question though
do u need to replace the cam chain as well
ive 63000klms (about 40000) miles would they need replacing
im not hugely mechanically minded but i think the chains good
mainly a bit of a rattle at idle and backing off throttle

when you do your tensioners if the marks line up the chains are fine .

As lloydiecbr says, and if the bike has been serviced properly they should be fine. They will have stretched a little at 40,000mls but not enough to replace them.

My advice is, (you say the cam chains rattle more when backing off the throttle) get the new CCT's in asap. Make sure you follow the steps in this thread before you start:-

No, you don't need to replace chains. If the marks don't line up it'll only be by a small amount, you won't be able to notice the difference and the new chains will stretch by the same amount within couple of thousand miles.

It would be an absolute waste of money, IMHO.

Never known one cause a problem.
