idler jets blocked solid

one of my neighbours is restoring a cb550 (has been stood a long time) and the jets are blocked solid , have tried soaking them in carb cleaner, petrol, penertrating oil ,some stuff we got from the dry cleaners even tried leaving one in boiling water, tried an airline.It's become personal now....apart from slinging them any ideas chaps

i bet hes put some carb cleaner or redex / seafoam in the tank at some time.....

all it does is loosen up all the shite and if there is no fuel filter the tiny pilot jet drillings catch it.
it'll be from the leaded petrol era no doubt - hard yellow deposits?

thing is, all the degreasers youve used, all they do is strip the oily residue away & you're left with the hard sulphur / lead deposits.
strip all the oils away then use battery acid. that will eat the lead & sulphur but not the brass of the jet.

charge an old battery up then empty it in a jug.
watch yourself tho - charged acid is very corrosive

dont put the ally carb body in though or it will be gone in minutes

my dad cleans blocked gas boiler jets by boiling them in white vinegar, may be worth a go?

By a Factory Pro jet kit for it, that'll come with new jets and run better, too.

How about a denture cleaner?
That seems to shift stubborn, ground on dirt, tobacco stains, and plaque- just the sort of thing you need.
Never tried it, but a Steradent tablet or two over night might just do the trick....
