Front Sprocket Bolt!

Post by Walenut »

Just changing my chain & sprockets is it a normal right hand thread or a left hand thread on the front sprocket?

as a rule the sprocket nut will tighten in the opposite direction of rotation so it doesnt come loose while riding.
this is why they're very often near impossible to shift with hand tools!

you could ride it to a hvg tyre place, whip the casing off and ask them to spin it off with a big windy gun.
much better option than standing on a bar or bashing it off

You can jam the teeth on the sprocket against the swing arm casting with a combination spanner, about 13mm I think.
That stops it turning and you can then undo it with a 1/2" socket.

God, I'm a bodger, some days.......
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
