A/G, that all certainly sounds good I agreeArfur_Guiness wrote:tony.mon wrote: I have to say that as you already have it stripped that far, you might just as well pull the head off to make sure.
It'll cost you a head gasket, but then it'll save you a compression test....
Well - Tonymon, you were right, AGAIN! Popped the head off and I think I've got away with it!

No sign of the valves touching the piston at all - no marks in the carbon at least.
No evidence of metal mashing anywhere in fact.
Need to look closer at the cam sprockets & chain but, manual CCt's, new head gasket and away we go!
Rop,rop,roppity rop!
Hah! Showing my age now - that's the noise Ogri's bike used to make in bike magazine when I were a lad....FirestormMike wrote: Is rop, rop, roppity rop rhyming slang for what Tony suggested ?
Hmmm 2000rpm - in top, on a paddock stand?lloydiecbr wrote:when programming the gear indicator the better you hold it at 2000rpm the more accurate it will be
OOer. Perhaps I should have read this first?tony.mon wrote:Re the Acumen, I posted a wiring post in the Workshop Knowledgebase to save you trying to reinvent the wheel.
Not too far from me then - I'm in Gosport - I was in Bournemouth last Thursday picking up a trailer actually....Arfur_Guiness wrote:Hi Tonymontony.mon wrote:Where you at, Arfur?
Recognise your name - kudos to you.
I'm on the sunny south coast - not far from Bournemouth, out in the sticks where the roads call me to go and play!
hey clive. You're a Hampshire Hog then? I'm on the Dorchester side of Bournemouth so not quite so close but do like to ride the New Forest now and then.cliveyandrews wrote: Not too far from me then - I'm in Gosport - I was in Bournemouth last Thursday picking up a trailer actually....
hey Chris, printed out your excellent, step by step instructions re: valve timing in preparation for fitting ROAS CCTs, now the front cylinder head is refitted.sirch345 wrote: A/G, that all certainly sounds good I agreebut before you re-fit the cylinder head I would suggest turning it upside down and filling it with petrol just to double check the valves are sealing.
Chris.
Coolio - sounds like you're my kind of engineer!tony.mon wrote:Nearest tooth is good enough.
Don't worry, it won't make a difference.

get them as close as possible, nip it all up and turn it ower by hand a few times checking the marks as you go so you know it's right.
hello mate, ref cct's mine took a week to get here to kent, something to do with them coming from northern ireland, it is worth the wait though ROAS makes a brilliant job of the polishing and manufactureArfur_Guiness wrote:benny hedges wrote:....chances are it's just a bit of chain stretch which really isnt a problem.

but I do miss my Storm and want it back pronto.
Had to spank me D9 on Sunday morning. Thought I'd nip to work and "borrow" the works digital camera to take pics when disassembling the Storm motor.
In the week to get to work for 8am I have to leave my gaff at 7.20. But as it was Sunday morning with no traffic about, I left at 7.19 & managed to get there AND BACK by 8am.........all the while observing the speed limits of course![]()
She might be a bit lardy but can still pick her skirts up and shake her tail feathers when spanked![]()
Where's my CCTs!
