paddock stand bobbins
paddock stand bobbins
Hello all, just a simple idea to fit paddock stand bobbins without having to take any thing apart, a u section of stainless steel bent to fit the swinging arm a spacer cut about 5mm less than the width of the arm so when the bobbing bolt is passed through it clamps it all together, the cost about £15, an hour to make and 10mins to fit works well, you can also drill and tap the bracket and arm in the side so there is no chance of it moving
Re: paddock stand bobbins
Several people have just drilled and tapped directly in the swing arm, even simpler.
Mine are fine, and get used quite a lot, and others have done this, no-one as far as I kn ow has had one fail or thread strip.
Or has there?

Re: paddock stand bobbins
My paddock stand came with 2 sorts of arms, 1 set for bobbins and the other for under the swing arm, and it was only £25 inc p&p off fleabay, i put the bobbin ones on fleabay for 8.50 plus p&p and someone brought them so i gotta bargain really.

Re: paddock stand bobbins
Yes, but the under arm ones let the swing arm slide up and along the cups, so that the cups end up nearer the engine, whereas bobbins stay where they are.

Re: paddock stand bobbins
Mine are hard plastic, so slide annoyingly, disturbing the straps holding my scottoiler nozzle in place, and I always forget to readjust it again....
That's why I fitted bobbins.

Re: paddock stand bobbins
oh right yeah i suppose plastic would move about a bit, have you tried gluing some rubber in the cradle would help with stopping the sliding.

Could try that, as I use the plastic ones when working on other people's bikes.

Re: paddock stand bobbins
Bring them anyway, they'll probably fit my front stand, and if we don't need that for brake duties it might make a second rear stand for someone.
