R and G crash bungs

Post by eddievtr »

Hi all

Need help fitting a set of these to my 'Storm. Is it possible to get the 'castle-shaped' locknut thingy off the LHS engine bar without the special Honda tool? Haynes manual says something about making one out of an old 19mm socket, but they must have access to much better hacksaws than me!

Thanks

Eddie

I made my own version of the socket needed to take off the lhs nut.
I got an old 19mm socket as you suggested, marked some lines on the socket according to the nut, and then used an angle glinder to cut out the required slots.

It was a real botch job, but I only needed it once to take the nut off and then tighten it back up!

If you have no luck, why not ask your local dealer to loosen it off whilst you fit the bungs on-site?

Best of luck

Alternatively, get a longer bolt and fit them onto the middle engine mount. It does mean cutting the fairing, but due to the positioning offers a lot more protection. I had R and G's on my race bike, and the one on the right side just snapped off when I dropped it.
Just a thought :D
