Re: rad fan failure or?
you could pull out the small connector that goes to the fan switch & short out the pin in the connector to ground.

if the fan comes on it's the switch thats fkt (it's on the right hand rad at the rear)
if it doesnt come on, put a voltage to the fan with the bigger connector (with the switch connector earthed.

make sure you can turn the fan by hand first.
i got a new fan off ebay for a tenner, dunno what the switch goes for.
im not sure if there is a fuse for the fan - have a look in the wiring diagram
have a look at section 6 of the pdf manual for cooling troubleshooting

Re: rad fan failure or?
it should switch on between 98 & 102C
and off between 93-97C ie 4C differrential
if its only coming on at 110 thats a problem tbh as it shouldnt be getting that hot.... it'd definately affect ignition advance anyway.
maybe the gauge is out?
but saying that, the fan doesnt switch on with the temp sensor.... just a fan switch, so the reading between the fan switch & temp sensor might be different?

pull the small connector off the fan switch and use a small piece of wire to earth the connector to the body of the bike.
have you not got a leccy tester???? b&q have them for a fiver, good enough for what you need.

Re: rad fan failure or?
im certain im shorting it right not even a tremor from the fan would it turn even if the stats gone tits?
and can i remove he fan without removing the rad i can see three bolts that hold it on to the rad in the black plastic housing it sits in
i cant read the wiring diagram lol does anyone know if there is a fuse for the fan?
if the fans anything like a pc fan in rinciple if its worn or knackered it should still tremor or struggle to turn a little no?
mine dead and i can spin it with me finger just fine

update
i now know the short test dont work if the 10a fuse is blown
found the fuse box its teeny no wonder i missed it i mistook it for a relay haha
anyway on the lid the fuse descriptions are in foreign
so i yanked out all the fuses to visually check them every single one was fine till i got to the very last fuse that in foreign says ventil
i thought fingers crossed its the fuse or 20 quid for a rad switch or 20 for a rad fan
and hey presto the fuse is blown i was delighted and felt like a knob all at the same time
anyway replaced the fuse with the convenient spare and shorted the fan again and it spins huzzah
asked for an early finish to fix the bike and its done in 30 mins head scratching lol
ty for help fella's im learning something every day

why cant you read the wiring diagram?????
just find the part you want to look at and follow the wires.... like one of them line puzzles you did as a kid.
ignore all the other wires, they do something else.
the operation of the fan has nothing to do with the stat - respect to you for figuring the switch though - well done
