Rectifier?

Post by pinkyfloyd »

As a complete mechanical novice (he says after rebuilding parts of his bike last week), could these be the symptoms of the dreaded R/R failure that seems to be one of the problems with these lovely machines.

Speedo lights dim a little when I rev the engine.
Speedo lights flicker a little when the indies are flashing.

Bike starts fine and the battery is reletivly new so any advice, suggestions welcome.
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

from the symptoms you describe.... the regulator bit is fkt.
get it changed asap.
look on ebay for cbr125, cbr400, cb11100 etc as they are all plug n play, new larger finned type.
plenty on ebay last time i looked.
if you leave it you will defo end up with a dead battery, stranded in the middle of nowhere & could possibly damage the clocks, cdi. icm, stator etc
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Cheers Benny, Thats what I was expecting to hear. Seems the dump on the side's done more damage than the cosmetic. Grrr!

Check the voltage at the battery terminals with a multi-meter. It should be reading somewhere in between 13.5 - 15.5 volts with engine running.
