Re: vtr firestorm heavy clutch
might be a dodgy slave cylinder or bent pushrod... wonder if a previous owner snapped a chain?
mine is also very light
it isn't just the lever wants adjusting or loosening / greasing is it???

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Mine is fine although it does clunk like a clunky thing going into 1st and from 1st to second.
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

98% of all Harleys ever sold are still on the road. The other 2% made it home

Re: vtr firestorm heavy clutch
I agree, you may have a problem with your clutch if it's heavy to operate, but then what are you comparing it too
As for changing from 1st gear into 2nd, I make full use of the torque and change up into 2nd gear asap as I can. That way you get less of a clunk. A correctly adjusted chain also helps. Also check cush drive rubbers, if these are badly worn that won't be helping.
Chris.

Thats a relief. I figured it was normal as a mechanic said that the VTR can be a bit clunky in gears.alec wrote:same as mine mate, i asked at the workshop day and was told most do itpinkyfloyd wrote:Mine is fine although it does clunk like a clunky thing going into 1st and from 1st to second.
I've noticed that if I change from first to second in low revs it clunks less. If I pull away and let the revs get near the redline in first it clunks like a madman bashing his head.sirch345 wrote: As for changing from 1st gear into 2nd, I make full use of the torque and change up into 2nd gear asap as I can. I dont ride like a loony..... Much!benny hedges wrote:pinkyfloyd wrote:[ If I pull away and let the revs get near the redline in first it clunks like a madman bashing his head.the next clunk you hear is the clocks & tank eating the tarmac!
Seriously though. I think the most I have seen on the bike is around 8k revs in any gear. I dont like to over rev the beastie, I want it to last a while.

Re: vtr firestorm heavy clutch
I like my point free license and its a struggle keeping it that way on the storm riding it the way I ride it. I'd have no chance if I rode it any harder. 6 points and its buhbye storm because I've not had my full license long enough.benny hedges wrote:pinkyfloyd wrote:

Re: vtr firestorm heavy clutch
If the clutch was heavy it would be heavy all the time, nothing to do with which gear you were selecting.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!
