yeah i reckon the panels dont get the same treatment as car bumpers and plastics so i suppose you could get away without using it and it keeps costs down if you dont.

I am with you Benny and I think you are quite right, I am willing to have a go myself, just finding somewhere to do it is the problem.

if you didn't live so far away i'd give you the use of my garage mate, its not very big but its useable, i've got a spray gun and small compressor.

Wrong I,m affraid. adding placticer to the final top coat. Either colour or clear over base will allow the paint a small amount of flex with out the risk of the finish going with it. It,s standard pratice for the painting of flexible parts .

If I was you, I would add a small amount of clear into the final top coat colour. This will allow the base colour that bit more depth and shine , also it helps protect the actual colour from natural attack of our enviroment.
Nearly all car makers dont use a plain solid colour now. It,s always clear over base even with solid colours like red, blues and whites.
As for drying , dont worry as the activator will set the paint hard in any climate, obivoulsy the warmer the conditions the quicker it goes off. If I was you for small parts like bike parts, ask for the polar express hardener.
Any minor particles in the finish should be rubbed out using ultra fine paper using fairy liquid in the water. Try do this as soon as you can, this way any surface marks will polish out easier than when you do it when the paint has hardened.

Base colour should be 1.1 mix.
Clear coat shoulr be around 2.1 with around 10% thinner. Would be worth buying the correct measuring stick from places like brown brothers who deal in all painting supplies and equipment.

If I can be of any help please shout me.
