my plug cap has failed 120mls from home,is it possable to bypass the cap by running a wire from the ht lead into the cap so it connects to the plug or is there too much power coming from the coil to do this

run it on one to get you home ,

You could try any spare plug cap, break off the insulation which will leave you with the metal connector and the bit that connects to the top of the plug.
Even a 90 degree one could be straightened.
Obviously plenty of insulating tape to stop it earthing out, but as long as it's not raining it should get you home.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
