Brake Pads

Post by chris vtr virgin »

Hi folks looking for some advice on brake pads. The brakes dont seem to be as good as what they possibily should be on my storm.
So was thinking off fitting new pads all round, so some help would be good as to which ones to fit.
I dont do any track riding so heat shouldnt be an issue.
Also where to find the best price for them.
Once again thanks

I have just fitted EBC pads all round they weren't a bad price I got them all for about £50, I'm not sure how long they will take to 'bed in' as there not too good yet, but I have had all the brake calipers apart cleaned and re-bled them, so maybe I will bleed them again just to make sure there is no air in the system.. PS I got mine off ebay, but plenty of online shops too.

The storm brakes are not great to be honest, if you are of the opinion that everything seems to be ok but they just don't seem as strong as they should then that is probably normal.

If you want more then uprated callipers and master cylinders are the way to go - have a search there to see what others have done.

I have just got used to mine and they are adequate for my level of riding, its only when I get on another bike that I realise how much better they could be.

From my experience, a set of decent pads and stainless lines should be adequate, I went to Cadwell last year with that setup and the brakes did well, not the best but good enough IMO!

However, I then upgraded to SP1 calipers, Cbr929 M/C, New HEL lines and SBS pads (wayyy better than EBC's!) went to Donington last week and I was shocked to see how much I could rape people on the brakes, I was even surprised they were that good! lol

However I have had my forks sprung and valved, so this wil obviously be helping too!

But if all your after is just a better feel and bite than std, bang in a set of sintered pads, my preference is SBS, a set of stainless lines and some new fluid, should be good to go! However, Its normally always worth popping out the pistons, cleaning and greasing them if there a bit sticky!

Ive got a set of used EBC HH's here and front and rear stainless lines, not branded but did the job if you after some cheap?
