Exhaust Heat Front and rear

Post by Jens »

Hi

Just making my hawk ready for the season, broke my arm 3 weeks ago, so got alot of time making it ready :-)

i changes oil. filter, plugs. it runs fine when i start it, also runs fine when i gas it up, so np there.

I tryed to measure the heat on the front and rear on the exit from the cylinder, on front it goes to arround 130 oC and on rear on arround 300 oC.

Is this right 130 and 300 ??? cant go out and drive it becouse of my arm, so dunno how it rides under pressure.

Jens.

Never measured exhaust pipe temps, but this doesn't seem right.
The jets in the carbs are slightly different, but not enough to cause this difference, I would have thought.

Valve seats? But before you rip the head off, try swapping what you can, coils, plugs and see if it swaps over as well.

oh, and check valve clearances and cam timing.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
