vfr handlebars

Post by denisblackvtr »

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but when i've fitted my vfr bars they are catching the fairing. I read that someone lifted the fairing mount 10mm. Does anyone know how to do this or can i bend the supports forward a few mm. Spacers wont work cos the mirrors then wont fit cos the bolts are to short. Any suggestions and help gratefully recieved. Cheers Den. :)

Denis, Iirc they made up some spacers to fit between the fairing and the sub-frame where the mirrors bolt on. Not sure if it was 10mm though, that may be stretching the fairing a bit much. You could try a 4mm or 6mm spacer first. The only thing that may cause you a problem depending on how thick a spacer you use, will be the length of the mirror studs, they my not be long enough.

Cheers Chris, i had a feeling they would be to short, so i was wondering if it is possible to buy the bolt extentions on thier own that you get with the mirror spacers. Can anyone help with info? Cheers again, Den :)

did say this a while ago & some said no they dont.. mine fitted ok :whatever

if you remount the fairing it will look sh1t trust me.
just get a dremel & take off 20mm of fairing from just under the mirror mounts to the edge where it looks like an ear lobe.
it should look like this
