Post by flybaby »

The gears on my 2000 W reg firetorm are pretty clunky - 1st to 2nd is to be expected but 3rd 4th 5th etc still feels clunky! Is this ok or should is it the sign of things to come??

Help please!!

Mine can be noisy at times, best to check the obvious things first...

Chain tension ok?
cush drive rubbers in good order?
Chain and sprockets in good order?
plenty of oil in it?
wheel alignment ok?

Can't really think of anything else that could cause it.

cheers Steve,

Chain tension ok - seems normal 30 - 40 mm play
cush drive rubbers in good order - not sure about this
Chain and sprockets in good order - seem fine
plenty of oil in it - just put new filter and 4L of Silkolene Pro 4 10-40w
wheel alignment - all ok

I bought this bike from Dobles Honda (http://www.doble.co.uk) and they did a 12000 mile service before collection. 12 hours following pick up the regulator rectifyier had to be replaced and new battery. This just makes me feel like they are not testing things properly and their service was crap, from the sales side. Maybe I was unlucky but hey!!

Sorry Flybaby, I am being particularly smart today.

Yes normal, no, not a sign of things to come!!

If all Steve said checks out, then the clunk is normal. Tis a kind of a trait of the Storm all right.

Do a search for "Clunk" and it will bring up the old threads about the gearbox.

Won't be as useless next time!
