From a gentle breeze to a STORM!!!!

Post by marksmiffy »

Woop Woop!!!!!!!!!!

Now i really own a proper Storm 8O .
Would just like to say thanks a bloody lot to the bike shop that cocked up my cam timing if you need any advise join this forum and speak to the proper Stormers on here

Managed to do it myself with plenty of advise from Benny Hedges and AMCQ many thanks for that guys  couldn't have done it without you

In the end took out cams on rear pot, rotated crank 360 degrees back to the 'RT' mark and put cams back in correct position RI and RE aligned with the head facing away from each other. Re-built it all. Checked everything rotated freely and had a cuppa and a fag before i dare press the starter button. Pressed it and fired up first time but sounded kinda different...Firstly it was louder (Exhaust wise not rattle and bang :o ) and seemed to run really smooth . Out with the leathers and gingerly rode it round the block, pulled over checked there were no cam cover leaks. All seemed well so went on a 20 miler. For those of you who aren't aware my storm only used to rev under load to 6500rpm . Took it up to 7500rpm and pulled like a train. Then needed to stop for some lights :( .
Pulled in front of traffic next to a Bandit and waited for the green un. Lights changed and gave it some wellie. Think the bloke in the bandit must have heard me scream in delight. Straight up to redline  first 3 gears and i fell in love  . It's a fact.... I LOVE MY STORM :? ...Hope thats not perverted in fact don't care if it is. I'm hooked . Love it :cool2

Anyways big thanks once again to the aforementioned and the guys who put together the cct post. And anyone else who advised.

Me a Happy Stormer now :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Mark

P.S as if this post wasn't long enough already lol....All i've got to do now is make it my own over the next few years and include the various add ons.

ah i love a happy ending :biggrin

respect to you for having a go yourself and succeeding where incompetent professionals failed.
a lesson to others who are hesitant to get the spanners out. shops can balls things up and often do.

nice one smiffy - enjoy!
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

That'd be quite swift then.. :)

Glad you're enjoying it. We've had a fair bit of warm weather up here, mine has been out a lot!

amazing how many "proper" Honda dealers rock this up.......
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

 glad that worked, I know you had to do it 2 times, but I was sure the engine rotation from front cyl tdc to rear tdc you quoted after the 1st time was wrong.

good work doing it your self, quite a big job, and lots that could go wrong. you can take on any job on the storm now!
