Tips and Tricks

Post by oldbikeman »

Hello All
I am sure some people have been using good ideas for ages so why not pass them on?
'Instant shoe polish',the little bottles with a sponge on the end.Magic on black plastic ,looks like new and water proof .Seat covers, any black rubber and of course leather.Best one is "Kids Stuff" in orange bottles but I ain't seen it for a while.Don't use in direct sun light.
'Silicon spray',used for all sorts keeps fork tubes healthy but don't spray on discs.
Use an old tooth brush to oil the chain with gearbox oil on the inside of the run,be tight with it.
I went out and bought a ten mill hex to fit the timing cover and then figured out the plug spanner fits.
hope it helps some body.

Buy a set of appropriately coloured Sharpies and use them to touch up paint chips. The black works well on wheels, master cylinder etc.

Easier than paint, easy to apply and looks good.
No bike (yet).

I use Armorall wipes on my black plastic stuff works great on painted engine cases and wheels too! :)
Anther tip for very faded plastic is to use baby oil.
it's only a quick fix but looks great for a short period of time until it collects all the dust!
