Front brake master cylinder

Hi all,
Does anyone know the bore of the front master cylinder?

Either 13mm or 14mm.
Throw it away and fit an sp1 item instead.

Mate throw it away!
My mate just worked his magic on my brakes. Jesus there are now better than a mate's new zx10r. Little finger braking. He just saved me a wedge as getting a sp1 cylinder does not come cheap.

Bleed the system correctly including the cylinder. Don't know anymore than that. Looks like he does it the same way as me but with totally different results. I nearly went over the bars when i had to bang all on whilst out on the bike for the first time after he done them. I will have to wait and see how long they last for because he said if they go off in the near future the cylinder is knackered.

I agree the brakes are much better when done correctly but as my dad says 'you can't polish a turd'.

The standard set up is just crying out for a better set up, I know it's easy for me to say that having a complete 916 front end fitted to my VTR.
The Brembo brake setup with an sp1 master is worlds better than the standard VTR one!

Yeah your right but i do have braided hoses and carbon lorraine pads.

A change of pads does make a HUGE difference

I was looking at the bigger master cylinder route but with a set of Bendix Supersport pads I really can't see the need. It'll lift the rear wheel with one finger!!

Egg, what Carbone Lorraines have you got? I had the SBK3's and found them crap on the road (where they rarely got hot enough) but blinding on the track

I have got SBK3's and your right with the heat thing, but since i had them bleed correctly they are a lot better.

I don't understand why people complain about the VTR brakes. I have standard calipers & master cylinder, OE pads and braided hoses. I have done 2 finger stoppies - any more braking power is wasted, unless you want to use one finger only for braking.

I have the same set up and agree with you fot the most part.
The only thing I am missing is initial bit (this makes ahuge difference to your overall stopping distance) but I reckon that could be solved with better pads...
