i was just wondering if anybody on the forum has any info on bracing the swingarm underneath.
for example does it have any clearance issues or what type cut and shut brace will fit.
i know the cbr900 brace fits on top of the swingarm but is there something out there to fit underneath.
i've seen a couple of pictures on the web, so someone has managed it........hmmmm

swingarm brace underneath
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: swingarm brace underneath
talk to tony.mon, I think he sait that his swing arm is in for welding at hte mo, and he had been reseaching and testing fitment for a while, so he will be a big source of knowledge.
Re: swingarm brace underneath
I believe JMB (?) offered a swingarm with a brace on the underside (see pics of superhawk forum member Cliby for a pic). As for using the common 900RR brace, I am not sure it would work as the mount/anchor for the shock linkage would likely get in the way of the central (brace) support (but that is just a theory as I never tried it; am not overly keen on the underside braces to be honest, but that is just personal opinion based on aesthetics).

I considered it, aesthetically I preferred it underneath, but it was too much work to make it happen.
You'd need to use two stand-off legs on the forward brace corners either side of the linkage, which isn't too difficult, but then the brace wouldn't clear the bellypan, so I abandoned that idea and went for one up top.
Chain run's easier using the Blade brace as well, although of course it's necessary to rivet up the chain running through the brace, so you can't remove it by taking off the LH footrest, like you can as standard.
I still fancy an underslung brake caliper mount though.....
I'm using a Blade one in the normal place with the standard rear caliper for now, but once I've got the anchor points altered on the arm I'll see what needs to be done in order to fit n underslung one- I think one of the Triumph ones would fit well, but will have to have a measure up. Might be easiest just to fit a bar instead of anchoring it on the inside of the swingarm, not sure yet what's best.
Supposedly the welder is getting on with it end of this week, but he'll have to wait until I'm back from Swanwick to agree the final fabrication and anchor mount.
Then it'll need polishing, and because I can't be arsed wasting riding time polishing the thing it'll need lacquering as well. And there's a couple of little "individual touches" that I have planned- all will be revealed in due course.....or is that reviled?

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Re: swingarm brace underneath
thanks guys.
after reading what tony said, i he thinks its a pain in the butt job then it must be.
i just liked the look of it.
and tony i have a harris gp 2 rear brake caliper for sale, if your interested it mounts underneath, you would have to sort out a bracket or something to mount it to the swingarm, it came off of 1 of the 6 special spondon/ russell savory race vtrs from 1997.
heres a few pics.

needs a bit of a clean up and some new pads but it does look the part, and to you tony i'd let it go cheap mate.
