Some are keen to state that FP jet kits are superior to DJ's offerings. I doubt there is any documented proof to support this and sam quite certain that the assertion is more opinion than anything else. I cn tell you that I have been running a DJ kit for many years now, and in various stages of engine mods and my bike has always had stellar engine response. To be honest, I can hardly imagine it working better than it does now (instant response everywhere). If it helps, Roger D installs DJ kits so I take that as a glowing endorsement of their kit.
As for the K&N vs. BMC debate, the consensus seems to be that on staock engine, the K&N nets you a slight gain on top with a resulting dip in the mids. A Superhawkforum member (Tweety), who just happens to have his own dyno, did a lot of testing with both and found that the BMC (street) worked best all around, compared to the OEM and K&N filters. Of course, with a heavily modded engine, perhaps this becomes irrelevant. I am running a BMC street on my Stage 1 modded engine and it runs very well. I did a brief stint (including getting it dyno tuned) with the K&N but the numbers were inferior (mind you I suspect the filter may have been over-oiled). I could re-oil and try again but dyno time costing what it does, I will stick with that I know works, and that is the BMC.
HOpe this helps......
P.S. Congrats on getting the Akra exhaust.... welcome to the club
