Peace and love to all you suzuki riders....................! Ho ho only joking. I noticed that whilst on my jollies in assen at WSB a few weeks back it didnt matter what bike you ride as long as you had a bike that was fine. None of the uk attitude of mines faster than yours etc etc.....
But thinking about it...... they smoke cannabis in cafes were ridiculous clothes and donkey porn is acceptable in your average supermarket.

2. Ridiculous clothes? Just check out the portly, saggy-arsed, sixty something chartered accountants wearing fully logo'd race leathers next time you go to a bike meet

Sorry, chaps but (who else agrees with me here?) I don't think there is an attitude like that among bikers. DEFINITELY between car drivers on any journey you care to make, but not bikers - I think the fellowship is there regardless of what you ride. Yes you might get a joke or two if you're still riding a Honda CB250 but nothing bad intended, whereas car drivers tend to be very agressive and competitive (in a non-friendly way) towrds each other.

Disagree mate..........Maybe its a bit differrent where you live but there is an amount of 'not nodding' around here unless that is you are riding the lastes Blade...R1...Duke etc with a matching 1piece suit with knee sliders.....It seems to have gone very clicky.......... I have been subject to the'They are sh1t compared to that blahh' at the local meet.
Holland however was totally different..
....cruisers..hogs......customs....trailees...tourers....all nodded and waved. Spoke to you at the petrol station........came up to you for a chat when parked up at the square in assen while having a beer to tell you that they had a bike at home in the garage etc.........
Even in the little town of Havelte which appeared to be upmarket.....as soon as you had parked up total strangers were trying to speak to you about your bike.........Young or old.

One main think of note was a lack of shellsuit wonders on sportsbikes......even though it was 80 degrees + that week all were kitted up proper....Maybe its a bit of a differrent culture to us? Nice though all the same.

Here in Belgium it's a same story. 3 category of riders may not wave you (it's "Victory" with your left hand here instead of "Aye, lad")

So, who will not greet others:

1. Harley riders who really "all there" - HOGs, chapters of "serious" clubs in colors . No comments needed I think. Normal people still greet others even if riding HD.
2. Goldwing riders - often. Not always, no, but - often. Shame on bus drivers.
3. Middle aged experienced riders, who use their neglected bike only like a mean of transportation to work - mainly old-like-my-life BMW or really rusty standard. Still - those guys probably will wave you in light traffic.

In France it is even more interesting. Most probably nobody will judge you by bike, but if you on R1 and riding like a prat - they may slap you on shoulder when passing by in traffic - like "come on, don't hold people behind you" or "learn how to drive before buying R1" attitude.
Apart from that - EVERY rider, on Harley, on Goldwing, even policemen on bike will greet colleague in France.

So - I am really suprised to see it is so different in UK...
But I do not talk about Paris - that's not France, that's Paris....

Over here the only people you don't get a nod or a wave from are the Hells Angels blokes (oh, and the mopeders!) Cops around here are reluctant to wave, as it would ruin the hard ass image, but that is semi understandable. Everyone else seems to nod, wave or shake the leg! I found when in the UK that every bike I passed gave a nod or a wave, without exception.
