Fairing fixings / clips

Post by BigVeeGrin »

What do you use for these - OE replacements or something a bit more user friendly?

Plus - is there a very special technique for removal? A flat head seems to destroy mine or if not the driver blade then it is the fat head destroying them, i.e. me!

The finicky black plastic fixings that are use once and then get destroyed taking them out from the front fairing panel and beneath the seat cowl - I gave them up years ago. All the other bolts hold everything on fine & intact.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

I'd suggest a flat bladed round ended butter knife, one with a very thin blade.
That will allow you to dig beneath the centre head and lift it proud.

You can buy ten or a dozen trim clips form Halfords for a few pounds, enough to last you a while.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

i took the plastic trim pegs out of the seat unit and replaced them with speed clips and black screws and used resin to fix number plate screws to the inside of the fairing where they connect to the brackets at the bottom of the rads...no more mangled plastic screws...
