Throttle Position Sensor adjustment???

Post by High_Side »

Hey all,
I was passed this info on another board. They are claiming that the throttle position sensors come badly calibrated from the factory and cause the timing to be more retarded than it should be. The difference in mileage is up to 10mpg! Anyone heard of this fix or tried it? I can only assume that it has made its way though this board already, but after performing a search I found nothing. I would be interested to hear how the results were for others who might have give it a go...
Thanks, High_Side

Hi High-side
yep it,s quite an old one. The shim under the slide can get rid of a flat spot when rolling the throttle back on after slowing down (normally around 4000 rpm ish) especially pronounced if you have a K&N filter fitted.
I don't agree with the TPS adjustment. All it does is retard the ignition across the rev range. Ok it can improve tick over and you can labour the engine a bit more comfortabley but you'll lose overall power as a consequence.
keep em coming high_side
