Shock adjusting C spanner

Post by Jazzscot »

was playing about with the shock yesterday. I fitted the wee spacer thing under the top mounting point. I loosened the preload adjustment down one notch using a wee chisel and a hammer. And it moved no problem. I then tried to move it back up a notch to the original setting but it ain't happening. Are there any tips in doing this.
If I was to get a C spanner what size would I need for the shock?

Also noticed that once I fitted the spacer the lower suspension looks very close to the exhaust header, not sure if it was as close before spacer was in. How much of a gap is normal?

Cheers in advance Jazz

After fitting a spacer you will find the chain will need tightening a bit but all should clear the exhaust. When adjusting the shock i'ts better with no weight on the back wheel . That means either an Abba type stand or a block of wood under the sump.I like to keep the shock collar lubed up with sillycoon spray or WD40,a Vtr tool kit with the propper C spanner can be had on Ebay not much more than a tenner :biggrin
