Anyone got a spare chain guard?

Post by Arfur_Guiness »

Went to play with me toys in the garage and was disgusted to see all the cr4p stuck to rear wheel rim from Scottoiler. Even worse when I slid my hand under the tail fairing and stuck my mitts in it......
Any hoo. Always thought the Pyramid hugger had been fitted on the p155 so tried to "rearrange" it to catch the fling but it's just too damn' short - most of the rear sprocket is exposed.
Did a bit of searching and apparently the standard chain gaurd is suposed to be refitted over the Pyramid hugger.
Aha! sez I (in an Alan Partridge type way) the geezer I got the 'Storm from gave me the chain gaurd along with standard pipes 'n stuff.
Buggered if i can get to fit though.
None of the holes line up with the brackets.
Checked the part number moulded into the gaurd, 40510-KY6-0100, searched 'tinternet and came up zilch.
Nearest to it is 40510-KY6-000 and that's for CBF600 / CBR1100XX.

PLease, anyone got a spare 'guard to check part no? - it doesn't correspond to VTR1000F fiche.
Even better - anyone show me a pic of gaurd on top of hugger????

I have the same hugger, and same as you got fed up of chain lube getting sprayed up the tail unit and wheel because the guard is too short. I refitted the stock guard, and now no more mess

The standard chain gaurd will fit over the top on the same fittings.

not the best photos of what you want to see, but half way down page 3 there is a picture of the rearsets from the chain side, you can see the gaurd over the hugger http://www.haymouth.co.uk/phpBB3/viewto ... 30#p140374.

hope that helps

Hey AMCQ - thanx for that - I've had a shuftie at your scoot and it looks pretty damn' trick!
Recently blagged a set of Ohlins springs for the frnt end and it's made a world of difference but highlights the weak rear end so must throw some money that way I guess. Like what you've done with your Nitron shock and the remote - looks cool and you say it works as good as it looks.

Managed to find a guard on Fleabagand and the seller helpfully read me the part number moulded inside just to check before I bought.
Have a look at the pictures and you'll see why I had probs! Firestorm gaurd is the lower one. (hope I upload the pics correctly!)

I'll clean it up a bit and nail it to the hugger.
In the meantime anyone need a guard for a CBF600 / CBR1100XX????
