the the title said... i'm thinking of going down the stopper mod route on my cct's...
my question is will this stop the noise of the chain if the cct is already making the chain rattle...
might seem a bit stupid question but i have 5 cct's here and 2 are brand new not out the packaging...
so could take them back and get my dollars back....
cheers bullie

if the CCT is already below spec, the stopper mod wont make it better, it will only stop it jumping the chain when it fails.
My advice would be to do the stopper mod on the new ones, and then you have the best set up. then send all your old ones to Bazza so he can modify them to manuals for others.

Re: don't know if its been asked before
Short answer, no, if they're already rattling the spring is slackening off, probably losing some "springiness" due to rust on the spring, and during the modification you'll need to completely retract the spring into the body, which sometimes further weakens the spring and it snaps fairly soon after the conversion is done.
If you're going to do the stopper mod, do it on brand new standard cct's.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
