I did same mod on mine, then adjusted till almost no slack, but on full right lock the throttle was very slow to close. Tried re routing cables and everything, but only solution was to put some slack back into the cable in straight ahead position.

That will have the effect of increasing the rolling radius, and shortening the cable.
Might just be that causing your problem.....
A variable rate throttle could be done, but you'd need to machine a corresponding "hole" in the lower pulley at the right place, I'm not sure that would be particularly easy to get right.
