Glad you're still in one peice but what about option 4? Put a claim in against the council for poorly maintained roads causing your off. Would you have fell off if the pothole wasnt there? Get a couple of estimates for the damage, keep hold of the photgraphs as evidence and contact the cops to see if there has been any other incidents at the same spot.

he was going slow mate... no faster than 20mph due to the oncoming traffic and angle of the bend.
i think going so slow didnt help tbh, faster and he'd have bounced over the potholes, im sure you know how easy it is to lose your line when the road surface is so bad.

couldve been a lot worse.
i was stuck behind a few cars about 400yds behind, came round the corner to see a car parked in the middle of the road & chris's bike down and obviously thought the worse so was relieved to see it was a relatively minor drop. and he was up on his feet.

put a downer on an otherwise great ride :(

dibs on the motor & hugger btw lol though imo the bike isnt damaged enough to break - i have most of the parts to fix it in my grotto

@cupa - m8 took fotos of the scene and i had my vid camera on so took a walkthrough of the scene highlighting the state of the road, damage to the bike & his gear etc.
had my solicitor's number so he spoke to them on the spot as we were concerned about him riding home with a limp wrist.
further down the road there was some resurfacing going on which could go in his favour - they obviously hadnt got to this bit yet but it is in a poor state.
the claim could go against the local council or MIB regardless of tpft insurance etc... when mine was written off it was never recorded as cat c and although i contacted my legal insurance, there is no claim recorded so i didnt lose ncb, probably cos it wasnt a claim against another motorist.

Miz, sorry to hear about your incident. Worst nightmare.

Feels horrible to ask but if your still wanting to get rid of bits then could I take the hugger and tool kit (if you still have it!?) off you?

That's put me right off the zebra paintjob I was thinking of.

If he still had the toolkit he'd just fix it.

Lol, nice pic mate :)

My fingers and knee are sore as fcuk today. Can hardly walk on my right leg, and definitely cant fiddler with my left hand anymore. My little finger and 4th finger knuckles have gone I think, they dont stick out like they do on my other hand and I cant feel them under the skin anymore.

Cupasoop, I have contacted Benny's solicitor as he says, sent them photos and stuff today, they havent replied yet though, but, im not holding out any hope as over the phone he said it would be very difficult to claim and that the pothole needed to be 1.5inch deep minimum really. The potholes were probably a bit less than that really (or the ones I hit were).

AMCQ, yeah the bike engine is fine, it was running while on its side for about 20 seconds before I managed to pull my leg out from under the bike and hit the kill switch. I rode home afterwards like 80 miles, mostly motorway sat at between 80 and 90 and all ok. I must admit, I did half expect it to overheat or blow up, so all credit to honda for making a tough engine there :)

Been thinking about it all day today, been hard to concentrate on work, but I am starting to lean more toward the fixing idea. I found some nice LED indicators on ebay and a new light. Cant find fairings though, so no idea how much a full set will cost, so anyone got an idea?? I think if I do fix it, i might get the bottom fairing repaired with fiberglass and sprayed black with yellow HONDA on it.

Im still not sure I can be arsed to fix it, and I still think that when I get home and go look in the garage, ill be disheartened enough to think "wombles it ill break it". Also I think it will be expensive to fix and not worth the money. Im guessing:

Fairing...dont know but maybe £200?
Light...£100
Indicators...£15
Bar ends...£10? I dont know
Carbon clutch cover...£50 maybe?
Spray painting of fairing and bottom fairing...£150
Screen...£40
Powder coat renntec rack to cover scuff...no idea £20?

Total...approx £585...which I consider to be quite a lot.

And yes, I do have the tool kit, that is how benny stripped some farmers fence to get me home :)
Yes you can have that, but the hugger would go to Benny, sorry but he would get first dibs on any bits he wants to be honest.

Miz,

If you want to let tool kit (and if Benny doesnt want hugger) go then just let me know and we can sort something.

Tony, you are hillarious!!

hi mate
i'm the highest bidder on the red fairings at the mo, but i would step aside if you want it mate, you could always buy it and sell off the bits you don't need.
but on the other hand, i'd still be interested in a few bits
i hope your feeling better soon buddy and good luck if you decide to stick it to the council, you have to ask yourself with the amount of road tax/fuel tax our roads should be like riding on a red carpet, instead they are crap, there should be no excuses...........

Yeah mate our roads are shite.

Thank you for the offer, but looking at those fairings, they are scuffed down the RHS of the top fairing. Im betting that there will therefore be cracks in it and I would be in no better position than I am in now.

How much do you reckon that they will go for in the end?

there was a set on there last week (black) they wer better and had a decent belly pan, they went for over £300 to rich for me, i was going to bid about £175 and pick up the fairing myself, but it might go for more than that, i dont need the screen/bellypan/tank/front mudguard and if i was to sell them via ebay/forum i would hope to get £80 back, so that would be about a £100 for the bits i need, i know they would have some cracks/scuffs/marks on them but over time i could get that sorted.
let me know what you fancy doing, i'm not to fussed either way because i've bought full race fairings and projector headlights for the endurance race bike look, but i wouldn't mind a set of originals fairings aswell, i'm greedy what can i say......

maybe you could make this guy an offer £650/700, or ask him how much for just the bits you need, if you don't ask you don't get....
it's the right colour aswell.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1997-HONDA-VT ... 1e658b43d5
you could sell the cans for a £120 the link pipes for £60/70 and by the time you sell the different bits you dont need you would have covered the cost of buying it.
worth a punt m8
