Oil Overfill
Slightly overfilled my firestorm when servicing it - its very easy to do dependant upon level of ground etc. When bike is dead upright the sight glass is now completely full - guess its over by about 1/2 litre or so as 4 litres didn't even get to the botton of the glass and I then added the best part of another litre. Don't really want to drain the excess out - but certainly dont wish to do any damage either! any advice from those who have experience of this welcome........

Off the top of my head - get a big syringe and some silicone tube, poke the hose down the filler hole - just try not to look like a junkie at Boots!
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Don't whatever you do start it up.
You must have the bike on level ground and make sure it's fully upright when checking the oil level, that's easier to do with a helper. I've never used a full 4lts of oil when doing an oil change and that's with a filter change at the same time.
Iirc the workshop manual only recommends 3.9ltrs.
You definitely need to remove some oil to bring the level correct at the window.

i always put a full 4L in mine when i change oil & filter... never had any problems at all.
ive heard scare stories about seals blowing etc but tbh it's bollox, you'd have to seriously overfill to do any damage.
i set mine so i can just see oil in the bottom of the sightglass when it's on the sidestand, seeing as it spends so much time leant over lol...

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Yep, overfilled mine several times and no seals blown.
The usual culprit for seals blowing is the oil seal behind the points on older IL4's, nothing to blow that I can think of with a storm.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Overfilled mine the other day & easiest way to sort it is to loosen the sump plug & remove some that way. As long as u dont unthread all the way it will be controllable.

That as far as I can see on my bike is not possible as the clutch basket in in the way. Another good pointer to ensure fast oil delivery at initial startup would be to fill the oil filter before fitting it.
