God SOMEBODY HELP ME!!! FUEL PROB......
alright heres what the deal is. I recently bought a dynojet kit stage one from dynojet. i have a k&n filter and @ brothers slip ons. Any ways the kit called for a main jet size of 185 front and 190 rear and set the needle on groove 5 from the top. I did this and i noticed that it was reall spudery in mid range and would hop hop hop then sometimes clear its self out and haul ass. other times it would just bogg and never clear its self out. i tried changing needle grooves to try and improve this but it got better the richer i went but then in the end it would still do the same. When i crank it up and let it idle i'll go and flick the throttle and it dies and then wont crank unless i have the enrichner on. I 've gone through all the main jet sizes and positions on the needle and nothing worked. i even put the stock air filter back in and the stock jet size and it still doesnt work. The carbs are making me hate the bike, A earlier post by some body else said his diapraghm was warped and his problems sound alot like mine. I checked the ingnition system on front and rear cylinders but they checked out fine. WHAT THE HELL IS THE PROBLEM!!!!!! somebody help me and now i have another stupid hurricane to go through.

err, duno.
lets start at the obvious,
1 you checked that both slides close together (fingers in carbs, open em up by hand then let em go) they should close together, fairly quickly, there should also be a little resistance both ways, lot of air = small hole.
2 you have not trapped the vacuum take off for the fuel tap, connected to rear cylinder (seen from left below inlet rubber on cylinder head). check that not trapped under tank and that it is connected to the correct pipe on the fuel tap - should be on left hand side spout that is horizontal (if bike is per 02 with 16l petrol tank).
3 if you have (which you must have) had the carbs off then they will need balancing or at least checking.
4 check choke cable routes - rear one is best to re-route so it goes under the carbs and not over.
5 clip #5 seems abit rich to me, normally #3 or #4.
6 air screws will need adjusting to for sure, start with 2.5 turns out then adjust from there. do them individually and they will probably end up different.
7 most of the kits I have fitted use the same main jet in each carb unless the engine is highly tuned and a couple of hp matters.
8 take it to a dyno shop if you get stuck and get them to check it, once you have fixed it, cos you will then get 1 dyno run anyway just to check the fueling. If they set it up (airscrews) on a gas analyser get them to make it on the rich side else it will pop and fart on the over run and when using 1/8 to 1/4 throttle cruising.

alright heres the answers to the check list. The slides when i pull them up all the way close not at a tramendously fast rate. More of a 1 second for them to close. When i had the air box off and reved it the slides just fluttered half way up not going any higher. I dont know if this was because the air box was off. the choke cable is routed on top of the carb ,
i will fix that. i sprayed wd40 around the boots of the carbs where it meets to go in the cylinder and nothing happened which shows me that there is no leak there. The mixture screw is on the bottom of the carbs right, if so because thats the only place the tool could fit i turned them 2.5 turns out from all the way in. My plugs are not fowled out either.i tested the ingnition too but came up with nothing. i did drill the holes in the slides in the top right hand corner like it said too and i am using there springs for the slides. They did not give me 2 of the same jets either. I have the stock jets back in there which is a 175 178 and the needle is on groove 4. still the problem consist.. DEl let me know if this
has given you any other ideas.
thanks for your help buddy
also when im on the interstate and the problem starts again the bike will
not run any higher than 5,000 rpms in 5th and the bike vibrates alot under the tank which is the carbs i know but it sounds like a wombles skooter almost like only 1 cyclinder is getting the right mixture. Then after a couple closing and opening of the throttle to wide open it picks its self back up and the power is 100% again as long as im above 5,000 rpms

Del, that sounds like the symptoms that I had when I put the vac pipe on the wrong side of the tap doesn't it.
Bangthis, as Del says, try the vac pipe. I had mine attached to the wrong side of the tap and all it was doing was sucking the diaphragm in the fuel tap closed the higher the revs went. The pipe should be attached to the side of the tap closest to your nuts as you sit on it, I had mine on the engine side of it till UnderDog pointed it out to me

your talking about the fuel petcock? AKA tap. alright heres how mines set up if you wher looking down at the bike from above. the right tube coming from the carbds goes to the right side of the tap, when ever i pull this off gas comes out of the tube. The hose that comes off the left side of the carbs goes to the left side of the tap. the hose that comes from the rear cylinder goes into the btoom of the tap and the drain hose goes to the tank. if this helps you out , i will definatly check those hoses agian though. the hoses that go to the sides of the tap are the large ones.

One side of the tap is for the vacuum pipe to suck on, the other side is to let air into the other side of the diaphragm to allow it to open. Been there done that, mine was off the road for a week while I figured it out, and it was only when Underdog pointed it out to me did I have that manic moment of understanding and say, "
You are a muppet, it was on the wrong side the whole time
"
