Standard Exhaust Cut Down

Post by jester »

Hi..I have standard exhausts on my Firestorm and i want to do one of those Bafflectomy jobs. While i'm at i i was also thinking of cutting about a third off the length which would probably make the baffles easier to get out and also give me a stubby can look...Has anyone done this?? Thanks.

I know there are people on here who have stripped down their standard ones to remove the baffles and get the noise, not sure about making them shorter though. Most people seem to get aftermarket ones, Viper, Art, Micron or whatever as the weight saving is massive, apparently...though I have never had a set of standard cans so dont know myself

I'd like to try to get it to look like a sp so stubby cans are what i'm after. Also that low down rubble that ducati's have is the sound I want. Don't no if I can acheive this though.what after market cans would I need for this or do you think I can get the sound i'm after with a standard can cut down and baffle removal. Don't want much do I lol.

After market cans sound loud, but some people think they are a more tinny noise than if you take out baffles from the standards.

The standards are way heavier and so I guess all the extra weight and packing etc will resonate at a lower frequency and create more of a rumble.

I would not recomend cutting your stock pipes as you will need to trim the internal baffles as well. You would be better in getting a set of aftermarket cans & link pipes & shortening them instead. I had it done to my 1200 bandit using a Scorpion can.
