wheel bearings....

Post by benny hedges »

last few rides i noticed the bike was a bit jittery at low speed and developed a bit of high speed weaving which was rather offputting to say the least.
got new tyres put on today and had a look at the wheel bearings while the wheels were off -

absolutely goosed!

got a new set, 2xfront 6004r and 2x rear 6204r for the bargain price of £13.44 :biggrin

see what difference it makes tomorrow :)

wheel bearings....

Post by lloydie »

I change mine every winter to be safe and I add more grease to the new one before fitting as they only put a minimal amount in

Can't ride but it don't stop me trying

btw cheers tony and al for confirming the front wheel bearing size.... thought it was 6004 but wasnt sure!
there is also another bearing in the rear sprocket carrier but that one was ok... i'll change it next time the wheel's off though as theyre dirt cheap.
daft thing is theres loads of these in the stores at work but i needed them there & then, bearing place shut in 10 mins and i was on other side of town lol!
65% off though :biggrin

also need to replace the cush drive rubbers as theyve all separated and makes it a pain to get the back wheel back on
fkt if im paying 35 notes for one though!
and also one of the chain adjusters is nackered so if anyone has a spare i can make good use of it in exchange for

go on then. you twisted my nipples.... what do you want in return?
think it got bent inside when the chain snapped cos it will not move.
fortunately the chain doesnt need adjusting.
if it was just the bolt i'd drill it out and use a long stud but the whole thing is gone :/
had stillies on to get it to move but it just chewed the head off :(

Talking to you today about bearings made me go check my rear (wheel  ) to make sure they were ok.

Bearings were fine but tyre pressure was down at 36psi, so that might be why the rear didn't feel so good when I went out last night.

Sorry to cut you off half way through the call, but I was on a conference with my team in the states, and although I had them on mute I could hear some one asking me a question, so didn't want them to know I was ignoring them!

real life resembles that joke closer than I would like!!

State of some projects feels like I am sitting on an unexploded bomb!.................

I typed boob first time, that is a much preferred situation, but not sure what that would be like post explosion. I imagine being covered in mammary tissue is not all that appealing
