It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Suspension bearings
Thanks mate, but not sure I would buy a second hand one. Chances are bearings just as bad.Wicky wrote:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-VTR1000 ... 500wt_1156

Also, it is the other bit that has gone on mine, the bit that looks like a tube with a triangular plate on each end. The bearings that go down the tube are the ones that have gone.

Re: Suspension bearings
would love to offer help mate but havent had to replace mine yet...Miztaziggy wrote:Im a little disappointed that no one else has a good link for ordering these, or a kit for doing the whole lot, especially since there looks to be a few people in the knowledge base bit who have done this.
watching with interest though as seeing the state of the wheel bearings on mine, i think its time i did the suspension bearings and bushes too.
keep a note of what you end up buying and i'll have the same... or try to source the same from a cheaper supplier!
did the front bearings this morning and the high speed weave is now gone

Suspension bearings
Yeah mate if people haven't done them, there isn't much they can help with, just hoped more people would have done them and found a good source already.

Re: Suspension bearings
I'm after a set to refurb & add grease nipples to them before I remove mine.

Re: Suspension bearings
Right, finally managed to hammer my old bearings out and cleaned up enough to read the number on the side "NTN 7E-HMK 1720"
Typed that into Google and it is this bearing
http://www.noc.ua/en/online-catalog-bea ... 20&key=595
Corresponding bearing from bike bearings web site is this:
http://shop.marksman-ind.com/ta1720z--1 ... 2108-p.asp
This is the cheapest bearing I have found and I have now ordered 2 of these
Im hoping that will therefore be the right one, unless im missing something?
If you plan to do this, these may also come in useful:
Dust seal (part number 21 on the diagram at the top) - David Silvers Part No 91262kv3831
Sleeve (part number 6 on the diagram at the top) - David Silvers Part No 52463mee000
Those part numbers are searchable on the David Silvers site and bring up the correct parts. For anyone that is interested, here is the part number on their site for that bearing (part number 20 on the diagram):
91072kt7003
Hopefully that is of use to someone who may be in the same situation as me...
And extra to that, these are David Silver part numbers for the other items on the diagram:
Part number 18 - 91072mj0003
Part number 5 - 52463malg00
Part number 8 - 52473mbb000
Part number 19 - 91071kv3005

Re: Suspension bearings
nice one bud... i'll look further into those parts and see if i can find the dimensions, then i can get them from bsl -65%!
the seals will be a generic part and i suspect the bearings will be too.
cheers for the info.

Re: Suspension bearings
If you look at the first link mate, it has the dimensions on there, they are 24mm outer, 17mm inner and 20mm long.
Dont know about the other bearings though, I will have to get them out and see if I can find a serial number on them.

Re: Suspension bearings
Good work ziggy, when you sort out all the part numbers we could put a sticky up in the knowledge base with these bearings, the wheel bearing sizes and the taper head bearings etc. make it easier for those who follow

Re: Suspension bearings
Just a quick update to say - I ordered the bearings from Bike Bearings (Marksman Industrial) as per that link above.
I ordered them yesterday, didnt pay for courier service, just selected standard Royal Mail, and they arrived today. They are exactly the same as the old bearings I removed. Top quality service
