My son has got a cg125 that has a scratched cylinder. It is a 2002 model and I was wondering if older cylinders would fit.

ny nephew ran a GC125 for 3 years and it was a rolling repiar with bits from every vintage getting put on it as the base bike failed.
From what he was doing he put any year parts on it, engine or bodywork. the engine seemed to work what ever vintage, the bodywork was another story!
he didnt research much, he just picked up buts as they came available and fitted / modified them to keep it running.........it did look like something out of scrapheap challange at the end, but was alwas running!

have you thought of putting a 150 kit on it????
if it is the pushrod engine (no cct) you can fit these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-BIG-BORE- ... 1768wt_686
note you will have to take a grinder to the bottom of the liner to get it to fit the crankcase.
(some say it cant be done.... pfffft)
or, regardless of pushrod or camchain model, take a look at this site for some more options... you can take it upto 213cc with a bit of work.
easiest option is bore it out 3mm and fit a cb550 piston, but check the gudgeon pin diameter before deciding what to fit.
also note, you may have to trim a bit off the piston skirt, but the bonus is, the barrel will still be stamped up 124cc

he is just about to turn 17 mate and I would prefer him to stick to the 125cc just now. So im taking it basically any cg125 cylinder would fit it?

read that article linked to at the end... apparently some older pots wont go on cos of different oilways on certain models.

Its got quite a few deep scores on it, I wonder how far they can be rebored?
An Engineering company up her quoted me 40 quid for a rebore and then I would need to get a piston again he reckoned 35-40 quid.
