How hard is it to change the rear end of the bike into something like a CBR rear?
I saw one on a modified street fighter VTR on ebay, then the guy who bought it later joined this forum. It had a nice rear with the twin lights and I want something like that on mine. Is it a case of swapping a sub frame and fairing piece, or will the sub frame and frame need modifying to fit together? Also what about the shock mounting, I guess they will need altering and welding too?
As for the front, I like the VTR front, other than the single light, but I havent seen anyone do a replacement on here. Im guessing there is no easy way to update this without changing the front fairing, unless anyone knows differently?
Are there any aftermarket fairings for the VTR like you can get for a car?
I remember when I used to have a turbo MR2, there were loads of companies that made different style bodykits, bomex, vader etc but there doesnt seem to be anything similar for bikes.

Re: Updating the VTR
you could try what i'm trying, i bought a race fairing from mc mouldings £100 and a pair of secondhand ducati 999 headlights £80, i want to try and mount them on the right hand side of the fairing, one on top of the other slightly staggered. i hopeing the finished article looks ok...hahaha

Do you have any pictures of what you are doing and your progress Marty?
How is the fit on the fairing you bought? Does it need any modification or does it fit well straight out of the box?

Re: Updating the VTR
i'm just waiting for the fairing to turn up, but i'm led to believe it should fit fine with no problems, there ain't any holes for the indicators but i've bought a pair of wing mirrors with indicators built in to clean up and modernise the look. as soon as the fairing arrives i'll get cracking and let you know how it goes, i'll also send you some pictures of it, if it's to much hassle to fit the headlights to one side, then i will probably put them central just like the 999's.
i've also got the rear race fairing and i plan on tinkering with that as well, although i got a real hard on for the mario navas carbon fibre rear seat unit from italy but it's f-ing exspensive............

I have heard some will fit the swing arm off a VFR 800. Makes for quite a sexy mod. Mind you try & find a 2nd hand VFR 800 swing arm. They are like gold dust & some of the prices are daft.

Updating the VTR
I've never been a big fan of single sided arms.
I'm more concerned about the old style lights on the VTR. They don't look modern in comparison with other newer bikes, though to be fair, they aren't bad for a 97 bike, they are way better than that era of ninja, blade or gixxer.
