Can't find my growl!!!

Post by Leachy »

Quick question, and a bit of a round up as i've not been on here for ages,ok as some of you know 18 months ago i bought a black VTR, 24,600 on clock on a 'p' (97) plate, in the last 3-4 months i've spent the better part of £500 on her, the usual suspects were replaced, full service, brake pads, tyres (Avon Storm Ultra 2's), chain and sprockets (X-ring pro kit), new battery (Snowmobile battery, 4 terminals and garanteed to crank 200 amp hr at -15 deg c), R1 R/R, Cush drive Rubbers. A lot of it i know is just maintainace but some are upgrades, but she seems quiet!! too quiet !! yes she runs fine, all the power seems to be there ( 0-60 faster than an scubie's, evo's r8's, approx 3.5 secs ish) and had her up 165 mph ish.
When i got her she had black carbon microns cans on that i thought were just quiet cans but then i saw a yellow vtr locally who had the same cans on making twice the "rumble" mine does so i'm at a loss to understand why mine's so quiet, I had a red VTR (which was Nicked!!! b'stards) which sounded f***in cool like the yellow 1 i saw recently, as far as i can make out my bike is totally standard, other bikers say maybe the other VTR's were all tweaked, so any advice on mods/changes would be appriciated.

Ride Safe!!

Perhaps the other bike's cans have lost their packing and become louder?
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Possible Stratman,if so the packing is quite easy to remove as microns have allen keyed end plates, here's a couple of pics of "VICKY"

Are those pics of your bike in the place you bought it from? If so, I know where that is and which bike that was...I went to look at it too.

Anyway, this might sound silly, but have you checked the baffles are out of your exhausts?

Some Japanese exhaust systems are a lot quieter to meet strict regs over there. I would bet that yours are street legal in Japan or something and you need some new ones.

maybe you are going deaf?
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Part of the rumble is intake noise, too, so maybe a good free-flowing air filter and jet kit, if you haven't got it done already.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Lol yeah it was, I recognise that window and carpet area where they take the pictures. There are like 3 or 4 bike shops in the little trading estate.
