MOT fail rant

Post by Lawless247 »

Took the Bandit in for Mot today. Booked for 0945 am. Left it with them.

1220 pm, phone call. New Pads and disc required on the rear. Fair enough says I, do the work. Even tho this is the same back brake I asked them to check 1000 miles ago. They said it was fine.

1630. Still no news, so I ring em. Young lad on the phone doesn't know what I'm talking about. Another member of staff in the background calling him a F$%kin Muppet. Boss will ring me back.No call.

1655.Call them back to be told it isn't done and they haven't even ordered the parts. Manager talks to me like a child and tells me to be quiet when I object to level of service. :Argue:

1705. Call from manager to tell me it will be at least 4 days before repaired. ???? Its a Bandit. How hard can it be?? 8O . Get told "Ah well it's not a Honda, it's a Suzuki." Is it? Well, F$%k me.

Upshot is I'm gettin a free loan bike till fixed. It better be a Blade!!!!

Rant over.

I think you should get an estimate in writing before you go any further. They sound a right outfit.

be sure to short shift it to death and cook the clutch, ride it with your foot on the rear brake and front brake half on, glaze the pads and warp the discs by chucking water on them when theyre mad hot,
and the engine!

youd be better off taking your bike away & doing it yourself... you can get them pads from anywhere and will only take a hr to do the full set/ cost about 50 - 60 quids
then take it back for a retest.
they will hang onto it as long as possible then charge you for another mot.
then fail it on discs....
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

If they are the main dealer then I'm sure Suzuki would like to hear about your experience too.

I'd fetch the bike home and do it myself - not a hard job if you have the tools and a bit of mechanichal knowledge.

I'd also treat any loan bike with care, as you are likely to have a huge excess on it.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

I agree,it only took 4 hrs for me to replace my chain and sprocket set, fit a new cush drive rubber set and extract and clean a sticky rear brake piston and that included the 14 mile drive to the parts supplier!! only spent £97 as well instead of the £200-£250 i was quoted for the same work needless to say i went for a  on what i saved

took my bike into hogbitz for a mot. failed on rear brake light rear bearings.
wanted to charge an estimated 100 quid to replace rear bearing that set alarm bells of as i know for a fact thats
a pisstake.
called essential rubber.
popped down there turns out they not only do mot's but bearings brake pads and other none internal engine bits.
charged me 45 quid for rear bearings and new pads fitted
turns out my head bearing was shite it was notching at the workshop day ages ago.
that was a 120 quid fitted but it was needed and a long fiddly b8stard job i couldnt of done at home.
i was watching lol.
so decided to get mot done there instead for another 29 quid
after a fiddle the rear brake light worked it was disconnected at a clip under the seat my chain lock had pushed it apart
lol.
there based just north of blackwall tunnel on the a12

Possibly, as to my knowledge there are no bearings in the rear brake light.

Please please please re-read all you posts before sending. The forum is currently infested with a terrible case of Mon's humour, like any pest if you take away it's food source it will give up & look for sustenance elsewhere or shrivel up & die.

Yours, MacV2.

Your local forum Pest Control (sort of ) expert. (+ it is funny as wombles, but I'm annoyed coz no one laughed at the jokes I post, all I get is one ''Groan'' come on pills, omeaga 3, super fish oil....that was genius yet not one titter!)
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...

This sort of stuff is useful to know. In this particular case, even more so for me, because I'm local. It seems quality dealers or service/MOT centres are thin on the ground. I'm sort of in the same boat as Lawless. I do intend to pursue a refund based on findings of another professional. Depending on outcome, it'll be name and shame for another Wakefield dealer.

I'm taking mine up to Malton to get it looked at after finding out that the only other dynojet place local to me, in Leeds, dont have a very good rep either. Just wish we didnt have to travel so far for decent service.

I got a CBF500 Loaner.

It has been toasted already. What a junker. :(

Bandit should be back Tues or Weds. Manager was very nice when I was stood in front of him. Must be a tough guy on the phone only.

Should say this is a Honda dealer with a Workshop for all makes. Seems the colour of the Honda owners money must be better.

I'm really gonna have to teach myself how to spanner a bike. Then I could have done the work myself.

I did notice in the Clothing section that they sell Socks Vtryorks. Pop along :D :D
