How long have you owned your Vtr??

Post by Flatline »

Just thought I would let you know I have owned mine since new in 98

Got 12/13k on the clock

Never been garaged!! (Still in good condition though)

Only had 1 new chain and sprocket set and one new set of tires!!

Never got my knee down and want to learn to wheelie! (ahhh. How sad!)

I bought mine in November 2010 and I too have never had my knee down. Wheelied it only by accident. No major problems with the bike as of yet. Got an electrical bug that I will sort out in the next few days and MOT at the end of the month. (Prob need new tyres as the fronts a bit hit n miss) anything else I'll find out on MOT day.

Also never been garaged by me or the previous owner so a little tatty in places. Been dropped once or twice by previous and has a small dint in the tank but she's still a lovely machine.
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

I got mine on 02/02/2011
Had the pegs down and my knee
Can't do wheelies but I keep trying
Since I've had the storm it's had
One set Tyres The first set only lasted 3000miles :)
New pads all round
Sump pan
Headers
Ccts
R/r
Braided hoses all round
3 services
New bearings wheels
Fork oil
New battery
The list go's on
To date I've spent a grand on it in parts to get it how I want it
But with the winter nearly here I can see myself spending half that again
:)
I love the storm and I can't see myself replacing it with anything else

Can't ride but it don't stop me trying

got my everyday storm in 08 and it's had...
6sets of tyres
3sets of pads
cct's
2 exhaust valves
shims
r/r
new battery
oil change every 6months
garaged every night and covered with a duvet
it's pushing 40,000miles with 20,000 of them done in the last 2yrs

can't see myself going back to il4's anytime soon either...

Had mine over 10yrs now, and can safely say it will stay.........I have spent [and continue to do so] more money on it than it is worth to sell, and I have got it close to how I wanted it now

I've had mine 11 years

It's had countless tyres Dunlop, Bridgestone and Michelin etc
2 sets of Remus end cans (carbon and ally) and a set of Arrows (carbon)
MFW rearsets and Harris (MFW more comfortable, Harris look better)
Ohlins steering damper (no longer fitted)
WP shock and Ohlins (I prefered the WP, wish I'd kept it)
Standard calipers and six pots (six pots way better)
Hel braided hoses and goodridge (cause the rear hel came free and melted the outer sleeve on the exhaust)

probably loads of other doubled up bits but I forget.

I should leave well enough alone really, but then a bargain comes along or something from my other very slow moving project catches my attention (like the RSV brembo radial m/c's that I have in the garage) and I think maybe they should go on the storm .....

coming on for 6 yrs now- '97 with only 17k on the ticker, 10K by me.
Previous owner raided the catalog for the usual bits- filter, dyno, hoses, and a Spark thingymajig- still not sure what it does, but I'm not taking if off... and MIG pipes ( think thats what they are)
Massive list of things to do:
-CCT's (Jazz, if your reading this I WILL be giving you a bell- or has anyone made their mind up about the Yorkshire workshopday dates yet??)
-shock and springs, once I can decide on the general opinion online as to whats the best
- basic strip down to replace all bearings and every other consumable that should have been done in the last 10 years.

Like a few have said before- your always looking at the other rides out there, but would you/ can you really justify changing from the Vtr??
Don't hassle me
I'll get there at some time
