Tyre sizes

Post by Snoogle »

I'm looking at swapping my tyres soon. There is still plenty of life left in the front, but, the rear is getting a bit low. I've noticed that in the wet the rear wheel spins up when going over "questionable" surfaces. I realise there are quite a few of them on our roads - but when I was going up a slight incline on the A46 and it started to happen I thought it was about time that I got a new one.

Anyway, my main question is what size is everybody running? I'm currently on a 180/55/17 (I think - fairly sure but will check tomorrow - could be a 60) and I'm looking at going to a 190/50 or 55 instead. Afterall, the bike isn't really set up to be a knee scraper anymore, so thinking the wider profile would add to the look more than anything else. Having never used a 190 on the Storm before, I'm wondering if this will make a massive difference to the way the bike handles?

If there is anything else that I should consider before making the swap then it would also be good to know, cheers

190 will raise the rear and it will make the bike turn in slower
My storm came with one fitted but didn't last long 3000miles but it was a power one

Can't ride but it don't stop me trying

i use 190s a lot due to them also being cheaper
most of the time im comfortable with the slower leaning and find it good on the twistys
u really dont notice it much and thet do look better(even if they are only a bit bigger) :D
