Got looking at a KTM RC8 recently and the reviews etc for the pre R model and they are pretty good, most generally preferring it to an 1198, and it's not expensive. So playing, "I would if I could" - what would you rather have as the ultimate V2 and why?
i met up with a guy earlier this year at a branda hatch trackday, he had a brand new rc8 not the r, it was the nuts, it had everything very very impressive, and he got several grand off the list price, because everyone now wants the r........
i'd get one in white, sexy as hell............

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
The appeal of the adjustable bars etc on the KTM makes it a winner for me. But I'm not sure if that's all marketing bluff or if it does make it less extreme?
I spent about two weeks riding (testing) an RC8 back in 2008 (one of the first ones to make it into NA) and came away very impressed. The adjustable ergonomics add a great deal of versatility to the bike ane the whole package worked very well. While powerful, I did not find it awe-inspiring but it definitely had enough power to get the adrenaline pumping.
I spent one day with a 1098S and came away amazed at its sporting potential (the front brakes absolutely blew me away!) but deeply disappointed at its real-world practicality. There are undoubtedly more comfortable torture racks, lol
Now, I never rode either on a track so cannot really comment as to their capabilities on a closed course. However, as a street ride, the RC8 was light years ahead.
